About

UNDRR Global Education and Training Institute (GETI) provides capacity building support to cities and their stakeholders in assessing resilience gaps and needs and creating baseline evidence for use in strategic planning. The approach used help cities to create dialogue and build multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder understanding on risk and resilience.

Training courses for cities include, for example, an introduction to diagnostic tools such as the Quick Risk Estimation Tool for cities to enhance understanding of risk, the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities and its Public Health System Resilience Addendum for cities to establish a baseline and inform development of action plans and strategies aiming to enhance resilience. Over 800 cities have reported using these tools in developing local DRR strategies and reporting DRR progress over the past years.

Assistance Criteria

Cities shall be responsible for convening participants representing multiple sectors and stakeholders for the training. Interested cities must demonstrate commitment to long-term resilience investments. Cities participating in Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) will be given priority.
